Paula’s Jyotish Website and Blog
how did she create it?
With so many enthusiastic inquiries about this website, I decided to create a separate webpage to answer many of my readership questions like:
What Browser is best to view this site?
Explorer, Firefox, Safari – Google Chrome not so great.
Why can’t I copy Paula’s pages and pictures?
This website, content, layout and pictures are all copyright protected. I’ve invested a tremendous amount of energy, time, and placed valuable Vedic Astrology assessments and information of my own creation – here for my readership to enjoy, without charge, while they are guests at my site. This does not mean that this is “free information” or “public domain” information to be stolen, copied, linked to, or captured for others’ uses. Read my copyright policies for more details.
Is Paula a techie who can offer advice?
Because so many of you have asked me questions about my own site – I’ve put together this page to help you move forward with a great hosting site and programs that can help you start creating a great blog of your own – using your own creativity.
Sorry, I’m not a computer technician, nor do I offer advice about site building, plug-ins, widgets, captcha devices, SEO’s, security issues, screen savers, browsing capabilities etc. Feel free to check out Google, or go to on-line forums where there are so many experts in these areas.
I am here to offer insights and advice on Jyotish and Vedic Astrology – as one of my fields of interest. If you happen to get inspired by what I share below to create a marvelous blog site like this – on a topic you’ve got expertise in – and using your own creativity – wonderful!
Did Paula create this site herself, or hire a designer?
I’m pleased to say that I lovingly created the design of this site myself – each and every page, from scratch without knowing anything about web site building (no html code) and nothing about website design or layout. No designer was hired. And you can do the same – with your own design!
What program (platform) did Paula use?
The platform I used is called Word Press – a wonderful free program that is well-designed to create blog sites like this. Word Press is free, yes, which is wonderful – but you do have to do the work yourself to create the site, do the writing, and generally be inspired. That’s all the fun stuff, isn’t it? If you get lost using Word Press, my hosting site (where I host this site on-line) has real people with on-line chats, or phone lines, that you can communicate with and will guide you as needed – for free. Or, you can check out forums at the Word Press site, or on Google.
Did Paula have help creating this site?
No, I didn’t, actually. I did search on the internet and Google to see if I could find some helpful tutoring. I picked up a few tips along the way and I called my hosting site, or e-mailed them now and then and they were prompt about offering a suggestion or a quick fix if I needed it. I’ve been very impressed with their services, and have switched all my other domain names and sites over to them.
What theme was used to create this site?
I did select a theme called Responsive with Word Press which I like and is running in the background here, creating the basic outline of the site. What this means is that the first page (the home page) has a call to action on it, some interesting widgets (3 announcement sections) and some really nifty flexibility in layout for the pages you may create as you learn to work with the program. Some companies charge a hefty monthly fee for the Responsive Theme by Word Press. My hosting site provides it for free as part of your monthly package.
I really like your colors and layout on each page – with titles, and headings. Is this what Responsive Theme creates automatically?
No, unfortunately. There isn’t a magical pre-packaged program out there that will create the exact layout, title sizes, the colors, the design, or the beautiful concepts I’ve created. Like me, you’ll have to use your imagination, and go step-by-step to create a blog site like this. You need to do all the work yourself – just as I did. (Or you can hire someone to do it – including me – scroll down for details). The good news is; it’s not impossible to do this yourself! Remember I started out knowing nothing about web site building. You can do this!
Is HTML code required or is there WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editing capabilities for the non-HTML programmers?
Both editing systems are available with word press – you can switch back and forth, and NO you definitely don’t need HTML I created this entire site and 5 others without any knowledge of HTML coding.
I’m interested in knowing about your web hosting service – is it expensive?
No it’s not expensive at all! I’ve done some research and I personally think it’s the cheapest but offers the best service out there. Everything you need to get started and continue successfully is included in a monthly fee (other than purchasing your domain name – and you can do that easily and inexpensively at the hosting site). I’ve purchased the “Baby Plan”, and it costs me $9.95 per month to host as many domain names and sites as I wish. I currently have created 6 sites, am creating 3 more and host them all with my “Baby Plan” for $9.95 per month.
Unlike other sites, it doesn’t cost me an extra $9.95 for each site, for each e-mail account, for site building programs, or ability to contact the company. MY HOSTING SITE CHARGES $9.95 PER MONTH TOTAL and that includes everything.
So how do I get started and get 25% off?
It’s easy. I’ve worked with my hosting site to create a discount link for you. That means you get 25% off the regular price of hosting – with any package they offer. That’s an extra 5% savings in your pocket over and above my hosting site’s 20% best discount. So, if you pay for a year, you get 25% off. I prefer to try things out and see if I like it, so I tend to sign up for a monthly and pay as I go. You’ll get 25% off, either way, using the following code:
Use the code above when you check out – to get 25% off – and not just 20% – which is my hosting site’s best discount. By using the jyotish25off code when you sign out (after signing up) you save more money.
Here’s the link to my hosting site: click here
Does Paula benefit in any way from me using this code?
Yes of course I receive some credits as well. Nothing is added to the cost of your monthly or yearly plan. You get 25% off, and I get a little treat for referring you. Win -Win. That’s the best way to do business don’t you think?
